At The Fragrant Nook, we care deeply about what goes into every product we make. That’s why we only use essential oils and fragrance oil blends that meet IFRA (International Fragrance Association) safety standards for their intended use. Our commitment to safety isn’t just about beautiful fragrance—it’s about responsible, informed formulation.

What Is IFRA?

IFRA (International Fragrance Association) is the global body that sets safety guidelines for fragrance materials used in consumer products, including:

• Candles
• Home fragrance
• Bath & body products
• Soaps and cosmetics

These guidelines define maximum safe usage levels for specific ingredients in different product categories, based on scientific review and risk assessment. In simple terms: IFRA standards help ensure that fragrance ingredients are used at levels that are considered safe for their intended use.
 

IFRA-Certified Oils at The Fragrant Nook

All essential oils and fragrance oil blends we use in our products are sourced from suppliers who provide IFRA-compliant documentation for their materials. We select oils and blends that:

• Are backed by IFRA safety standards for their intended product type
• Come with clear usage guidelines and documentation
• Are appropriate for the specific application (e.g., candles vs. bath products)
   

We follow these usage levels carefully when formulating our recipes, so each product is designed with both enjoyment and safety in mind.

Please note: “IFRA-certified” or “IFRA-compliant” refers to adherence to IFRA Standards for usage levels and categories. It does not mean a product is risk-free for every individual, especially those with allergies or sensitivities.
 

Transparency: IFRA Certificates Available Upon Request

We believe you have a right to know what you’re using in your home. If you would like to see the IFRA Certificate of Conformity for a specific essential oil or fragrance oil blend used in any of our products, we’re happy to share it.

You can request documentation by contacting us with:

• The product name
• The scent name (if applicable)
• Any specific questions you may have
   

To request IFRA certificates or more information, please email: amy@thefragrantnook.com and we’ll provide the relevant IFRA certificates from our suppliers, along with any additional usage information we have available.

A Note on Sensitivities & Personal Use

Even with IFRA-compliant essential oils and fragrance oil blends:

• Some individuals may be sensitive or allergic to certain ingredients
• People with asthma, respiratory conditions, or fragrance sensitivities should use scented products with care
• We always recommend testing new products in a well-ventilated area and discontinuing use if irritation occurs
